History of the School

Acclaimed artists and teachers Joseph Yan and Janny Huang established their Chinese arts school as The Joseph Fine Art School and Gallery in the Richmond District of San Francisco in 1992. It was the first of its kind in the district. The school quickly grew from 14 students that first year into a flourishing Chinese art center with a loyal following. After 23 years at their Clement Street site they closed their San Francisco school and reopened in Daly City as Joseph & Janny's Art Studio where they continue to teach serious adult and young students.

The Studio offers intensive, individualized instruction in a wide variety of disciplines.

In addition to art instruction, the Studio offers custom framing and sells art supplies and traditional Chinese art items. Joseph Yan also repairs antiques and does chop carving.
